O-Sensei killed them all in a fit after Gary did a bad taitoshi

  2. alansmurf says:

I believe that could be true !!!

Gary do a bad Tai Otoshi? Never!

No, we are still alive, maybe a little bruised and battered. Actually there were quite a few of us for a Thursday – about 10 plus Sensei. It was Gary that started us all off with warming up, even if he was wearing a questionable shade of blue belt…

John Sensei decided to pick up on a few common errors that he saw during grading, and so we focussed on the finer points of ankle techniques. Deashi Barai, Ouchi Gari, Kouchi Gari, Kosoto Gari and Kosoto Gake if my memory serves me correctly (I played Uke for John Sensei most of the night, so it was a bit of a blur to be honest).

To finish, we had a nice bit of groundwork, so looking at variations of hold downs such as Kesa Gatame, Ushiro Kesa Gatame, Kata Gatame, Kami Shiho Gatame and Tate Shiho Gatame (pretty much impossible to escape from).

It was a good night, with most of it seeming to come together quite well for James H and I, after a bit of a rocky start. We were even asked to demonstrate three times in a row, which I thought was asking for trouble, but we managed to get through with only minor corrections from Sensei 😉

A good effort from everyone! I know some found the techniques quite hard to get as so much of the ankle techniques is in the timing, but practise makes perfect. I must admit, I was really sore the next day and still have bruises!

    See you all Monday!

Oh good you guys are still alive and throwing !!!

See you all tomorrow for a gentle work out …not !!!

    Sounds like a good session!

As long as it is Blue that belt was well deserved. He had TWO AND A HALF HOURS of me throwing him around the room, he should get a medal not a belt!

Glad it’s going to be a hard session tomorrow, got a bit of ‘tension’ to work off. A suggestion for Watashi Sensei – How about digging out that old Ed Parker book for a few ideas? 😀

    All aboard …2000 start

    • Stupid app won’t let me comment on a post until someone else does…it was bloody hot last night but good all round session, by the end of it I was ready for another good hour or so.

Who is Gary Short? I’d love to know how my very distinct surname got confused with ‘short’!
